When a person have worked on a job for years and one day, a circulation can come of a downsize or a layoff. Once the cuts start, because of the longevity on the job, the person feels they are ok. But here they sit crushed in the parking lot of the job, the position has been eliminated, been terminated from a job that they had been working on for years. What are they going to do? The person has grown to a certain lifestyle. Now the money will be tight or will not have any at all because of certain spending habits. Now forced to discern between needs and wants. Evaluate every action when it comes down to money. One person goes out and try to do things all on his own. Looking for help through self-help books, social media, and any means necessary. The other person ask God to give them the wisdom to make the right decisions while they wait for him to provide for them.
In economics there are needs called “necessity goods.” Food, utilities, communications, housing, transportation, medicine, education, and day care. There are some spiritual necessities as well. Spiritual necessity goods are those commodities we must have if we are to be in right fellowship with God. This list contains: Prayer, repentance, obedience, the word of God, submission, water baptism. There is one gift we cannot purchase, but must have is the gift of the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit in our lives, we will not have the relationship that leads to eternal life. Being filled with His Spirit is a must to live victoriously. it is a must to be ready for the dawning of a new life.
Let’s explore what it means: The necessity of the Spirit, to be led by the Holy Spirit, to be empowered by the Holy Spirit, and how to receive victory through the Holy Spirit. We have to recognize the importance of being filled with the Holy Spirit. This is a series that has been placed in my heart. Lets start with the first one the necessity of the spirit. Instead of doing the challenges on TikTok, our challenge each day should be to daily surrender to the work of the Spirit in our lives. The Holy Spirit gives us new life and hope for eternal life. Jesus had a conversation with Nicodemus about the new birth. As a member of the Sanhedrin, the highest ruling among the Jewish culture, he had significant influence. He took a liken to Jesus’s teachings and went to speak with him to learn more. However, Nicodemus, went in the night to not jeopardize his social standing.
(John 3: 2-5) Nicodemus acknowledged Jesus heavenly origin. “No man can do these things that you do, except God be with him. Jesus took this time to express the topic of a man being born again, he cannot see the kingdom of heaven. Nicodemus responded that it is not physically possible to enter the womb of his mother a second time when he is old. How can he then be born again? Jesus replied. Except a man be born again of water and of the spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. The water refers to baptism. What was said to Nicodemus is true for us as well. We must be filled with the Holy Spirit. We must desire and pursue this experience for ourself, salvation is personal. If you sincerely love the Lord take the next step of obedience and be born again of the spirit. This is the proper result of faith in Christ.
True faith should be followed by the baptism of the Spirit. Faith in Christ should lead us to experience the baptism of the Spirit. It is the natural outflow of faith in Him. Proceeding beyond mere mental assent to the truth and demonstrate faith to the truth. Faith demonstrates obedience, and obedience will always lead to the new birth for the hungry heart. Being born again is not a choice for some and not for others. It is not an option that one chooses at one’s pleasure. It is an universal mandate, he left no room for discussion, or private opinion on the matter. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is an irreplaceable component of the gospel work in our lives.
We obey the gospel by associating with Jesus’s death in repentance, His burial in water baptism, and His resurrection by Spirit baptism. Only through the Holy Spirit’s infilling do we have the life of Christ resident within us. Romans makes this clear for us about the Holy Spirit: “But you are not in the flesh, but in the spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His” (Romans 8:9). Sanctification is the process of being set apart in two ways. Set apart from sin, and set apart to God. One without the other is incomplete. If we seek one without the other, we become like the Pharisees. If we seek to be set apart to God without being set apart from sin, we will dwell in the carnal waters of compromises. God gives us the Spirit to resist the persistent downward pull of the flesh (Galatians 5:16-18).
The Spirit empowers us for ministry. Not every child of God is called to be a preacher, but everyone is called to be a minister or a servant. But we cannot do a spiritual work with fleshly powers. We can only accomplish something of eternal value by the strength of something higher than ourselves. That strength comes by God’s Spirit. When we know what we must do, what remains is for us to just do it. You must choose to open up your heart to receive the experience of the spiritual new birth. It has been said, “A revelation without a response only leave you with an education without an experience.”
In reality we need the Holy Spirit. It is a necessity in world of corruption, chaos, and calamity, who would not want to experience protective righteousness, pervasive peace, and persistent joy? these promises and so much more are available to every believer who will simply obey the gospel. The gift of the Holy Spirit is the richest blessing ever to be received in you life. it prepares you for what’s next to come. Until the next writing have a great day.
